Make a pilgrimage to your local LCBO to sample these must-try beers this Thanksgiving long weekend and/or this Autumn season …
Left Field Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale
5.5% Alc./Vol
35 IBU
This is your pregame October baseball kind of beer. The kind that will warm up your blood before the big game. The Eephus, named after the ultimate ‘change-up’ pitch, pours a dark nutty brown colour with hints of malt, roasted nuts, biscuit malt and nice balancing hops. Grab one for the game this weekend!
Royal City Brewery, Autumn Ale
6% Alc./Vol
Get yourself the 500 mL bottle straight from the brewery; or from the LCBO near you. This one is brewed with harvest spices – hints of sweet potato and squash. Talk about the perfect Thanksgiving beer, crack one open and enjoy it with your Turkey and stuffing.
Shipyard Brewery, Smashed Pumpkin
9% Alc./Vol
26 IBU
This big bodied beer, coppery orange in colour, has a pleasing aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg. A pale ale with wheat and light Munich malts, this seasonal beauty combines natural pumpkin tannins with the delicate spiciness of Saphir and Hallertau Hops. Fun fact: Shipyard Brewery actually grows their own pumpkins for their beer. This is the beer that got me to appreciate pumpkins on a whole other level!
